Keeping Your Chin Up!
You won't get them all. So, when you don't get that listing or that client (and it happens to everyone),
what do you do? Since YOU are in this business for the long haul, it is important that you follow a few
simple steps to turn a loss into a learning experience.
Please remember that you are in this industry to serve people, and you want to fit the people you are working with. When you are presenting yourself and what you have to offer, and you don't receive their business, examine if you fit with them. If you feel you are a fit, and they chose someone else, follow these steps to self assess.
Accept responsibility - you may feel that you did everything right and authentically, but you still need to objectively review how you handled various situations with this particular client or transaction and see if there is something that you could have done differently or better. Make it a learning experience!
Be gracious - complaining to your co-workers or other clients only makes you look bad. It really is a small world and you never know if the person you are complaining to will pass your comments on or will simply think less of you. Be a positive power of example. Show that you are ready to move on to your nest success!
Keep a positive attitude - since real estate is a people business, if you let yourself feel like a loser, people will see you as one. If you believe in yourself, others will as well. You really do project your thoughts to the world. So, hold your head high and keep your chin up! We learn the most when we things do not go our way!
Think Win-Win - look back on a recent transaction or sale that you lost. Review how you handled the loss and critically analyze whether you could have handled it better. Write down the steps you will take next time that situation happens. We are not judged by the number of times we lose, we are successful by the number of times we get back up and learn!
