Become a Real Estate Agent This Year

2020 is here and with it comes a new set of New Year’s Resolutions!  Everyone resolves to eat better and work out more but have you always thought about a career in real estate?  Now is a great time to start!

Projections show real estate careers will rise this year. As the housing market stays strong and interest rates stay steady,  there will be a need for real estate agents.

You can set your own destiny.  The harder you work and market yourself, the more it will pay off in clients and closings.  You are the driver of your bus.  You set your own hours and the work you put in will come back to benefit you directly.

Real estate agents were ranked as one of the happier professions.  You are making a difference in people’s lives and helping them realize their dream of owning a home.  It is very rewarding.

It is relatively easy and inexpensive as opposed to 4-year college career occupations to earn your real estate license.  Agent Rising Real Estate School offers traditional as well as online courses.   We also offer Live BootCamps and hours to get a majority of your hours in a short amount of time.

Our Rise Welcome Center on 145 Fairhaven Road in Mattapoisett, is ready to welcome students and is also offering new one-day courses for agents.

videos

Marketing with Videos

Videos are a powerful way to market to your audience, and the possibilities are endless! You can create a video to market a specific property, highlight a happy customer or share information. But it seems that most people shy away from videos, whether it be fear of the unknown or it’s possible they’re camera shy. So we did some research and came up with great tips on how to start creating videos.
1. Define your audience– before you even pick up the camera and begin filming you need to decide who you want to reach.

2. Define your goal-decide what message you are trying to get across to your audience and how.

3. Pick a topic that has done well in a different format and convert that into a video!– Can’t think of anything new for a video? Use something you’ve already created, such as a video for a blog post that’s already been written.
4. Record yourself reading your script– Use your phone or whatever tool you have and practice!
5.  What’s better than a video testimonial from a happy client?  Ask your client is they wouldn’t mind giving you a two-minute testimonial.  Short and sweet is the best. It doesn’t have to be perfect just genuine.  Use your IPad and record them telling about their experience.
6.. Embed your video into your blog, website or share the link on your social networks– Share with your target audience and look for feedback.

time management

Tips for Managing Your Time in Real Estate

Real Estate can be a time consuming career, but there are many tips for managing your time and making time for personal and family life.

Real estate agents spend a lot of time on support activities which include: prospecting, lead follow-up, taking listings and making sales. You can’t avoid these activities which support your career, but you can try to handle them more efficiently and with less time.

One helpful tip is to make chunks of time.  MLS searches, filing, faxing, copying and clouding are some tasks you can try to do in one session at a certain day of the week instead of constant interruptions of your day. Keep a list of what needs to be done and set aside a certain amount of time one day a week to tackle.

Also block a certain amount of time each day to search the web and do other web-related activities. Keep a time limit so you don’t become too distracted on unimportant activities.

Pick a certain time of day for prospecting by writing thank-you notes and sending out pop-bys . This will keep you at the forefront of your clients’ mind.

Another good tip is to give a quick call to your active clients and listings on a certain day each week. Even if you don’t have anything new to report, at least they know you are keeping them informed and on the job. A “just checking in” call is always appreciated.

Turn your phone off at a certain time each night to enjoy dinner and family time.  Your clients can wait until the morning if anything comes up.

Pick a day or two each week for family activities and personal time.  Working 24-7 will wear you out quickly.  You want to be efficient but time off is important too.

Word on the street is the Grinch may be spotted also.  The event is from 3:00 pm to 5:30 and will end with the tree lighting at Bicentennial Park at the corner of Main Street and Spring Street.

holidays

Holidays are a Great Time to Buy

holidaysThe holidays will soon be here and it’s a great time to spend with family and friends. On another note, it’s also a great time to buy real estate. You may have to brave the elements, and put up with the craziness of the holidays, but it is definitely worth it.

Although inventory is generally limited, if you are persistent, you have less competition and can negotiate a great deal.

Also, sellers are usually motivated if they decide to put their home up for sale during the busy holidays.  There are many reasons why a seller may have to sell their home soon, such as relocation or they may want to be in their new home by Christmas. This can all work in a buyer’s favor.

There may be great tax advantages to closing before the end of the year depending on your tax situation.  If you are in the market for a new home, it can be a great decision to start looking.

Interest rates are always fluctuating but tend to lower at the end of the year.  It’s not a given, but a trend a buyer can take advantage of.

Sometimes closings are quicker at this time of year.  Even though lenders, and real estate agents are busy with their own holiday plans and work less, there is a great incentive to close before Christmas and finish the deal before the New Year.
