Keeping Busy and Productive

The corona virus has everyone concerned.  It's a whole new lifestyle for the next three weeks at least.  While we cannot control what is going on in the world, we can at least make our own world as comfortable as possible and keep busy and productive.

With all the kids home from pre-school to college, it's a challenge to keep everyone busy, especially the younger kids.

What can we do to keep them busy and productive?

Keep to a schedule.  A general wake up time, and bedtime, time for chores, time for some schoolwork and  time for play. Taking a walk is a great idea or just getting outside to play games. Fresh air is great for everybody.  Just plan to keep away from other groups if you are at the park or playground.  If you can, staying in your own neighborhood might be a better idea.

It's a great time to catch up on some movies or shows you might be waiting to watch but don't overdue it.  Limit screen time on video games and social media.

Now's a great time to bring out the old fashioned board games and puzzles. A family game night can be a great idea.

It's also a great idea to try out some new crafts or projects you've been interested in. You can try out some new cooking recipes.  The kids can be a great help and can turn it into a learning experience.

Giving them time to just play with toys and use their imagination is also a great activity.  In our busy lives, these are the activities that we never seem to find time for.  Even take out the old home movies and have a fun night reminiscing.

We are all navigating this new norm for the time being.  We can try to make it a time to bond with our families and relish in a slow down and more time together like a family sit-down dinner at night.
