Starting Your Real Estate Career
WEDNESDAY | JUNE 15, 2018

You’ve finished your real estate course and passed your test! Congratulations!  What comes next?  Choosing a real estate company which fits your philosophy and goals is important.  Do your research and interview the companies you are interested in before you make up your mind.

Now is the time to make a plan.  What are your goals for the week, month, year?   You can decide how successful you will be.  You are the driver of your bus.  If you work full time at your business, you will build a successful career.  Your income potential is basically unlimited.  You can work part-time if that works for you but  the more time you put in, the more benefits you’ll reap.

Go to the office everyday.  Make a plan for how many calls and outreach you will do daily.  Stick to it.

Start your marketing plan also.  Business cards, postcards introducing yourself to the community, social media marketing are all part of this.  Get yourself out there. Pick a brand and use it as a marketing tool.   Attend your office meetings and spend as much time at the office as you can.  Consider volunteering to shadow other more experienced realtors.  Help them out and learn from them.  Working side by side with other realtors is a great learning experience.

Working weekends is usually necessary, but carve out time for yourself.  Working one day on the weekend and keeping the other open for family and friends is a great compromise.  Turn your phone off at meals and after 7 pm for peace of mind.  You want to be available to your clients, but you also need some time for yourself.  It will make you a better realtor.

Be your community expert.  Get out in your community and volunteer.  You will meet all kinds of new people which leads to more business, not to mention the good feeling of giving back to your community.
